LATEST UPDATES

11:45 AM - Sunday, February 22

A blizzard warning is in effect for the New York Metropolitan area from this afternoon through Monday evening, with heavy snow, high winds, and dangerous travel conditions expected. Catholic Charities will be closed on Monday, February 23, 2026, except for programs required to maintain on-site operations.

This is a remote workday. Staff who can work remotely are expected to do so.

Program Operations

Some programs, particularly those with contractual, residential, or essential service obligations, cannot close and will require staff to be present on-site. This applies to shifts beginning today (Sunday) as well as Monday. Please follow your program’s established inclement weather procedures to determine whether your program will operate remotely, remain open with essential on-site coverage, or modify operations.

Supervisors will confirm with staff:
• Work expectations for your upcoming shift or workday
• Whether you are required to be on-site for essential services

If you are unsure whether you are expected on-site, confirm with your supervisor now.

Timekeeping

• Non-exempt employees: Record your actual hours worked, whether remote or on-site.
• Non-exempt employees unable to work remotely or report on-site: You must use available PTO in order to receive pay. If you have questions, contact your supervisor.
• Do not work overtime without prior supervisor approval.

Where to Check for Updates

We will share any additional updates through:

• All-staff email
• Your supervisor for program-specific instructions
• New: Agency Alerts Page: https://cccsny.org/alerts
     - Please bookmark this page. We will use it during emergency closures and other situations where agency-wide updates are needed.

Please check these channels for the latest information, including Tuesday’s operational plan, which we will communicate by Monday afternoon.

Safety First

Conditions are expected to be hazardous through Monday, with heavy snow, high winds, and near-zero visibility at times. No employee should attempt travel that they believe to be unsafe. Please prioritize your safety and the safety of your loved ones. We will continue to monitor the storm and communicate promptly.

Praying that you and your families remain safe.
